Hope and Lucie's Appeal

12/11/2015

Picture
Hope is 11 years old and lives with her mum, dad, and younger sister Lucie.

In 2008, when she was just four years old, Hope was diagnosed with a brain tumour which could not be operated on. She underwent 18 months of chemotherapy but sadly relapsed shortly afterward. She has since relapsed again and again, and now Hope is receiving  chemotherapy for the fourth time. She has become profoundly deaf in her left ear and lost hearing completely in her right ear.

Hope’s eight year battle with cancer means that she hasn’t been able to experience many of the things a normal 11 year old girl would have. Despite spending most of her childhood with cancer, and being unable to participate in many of the fun things her friend do, Hope is a wonderful, positive and happy girl.

Hope’s sister, Lucie, is nine years old, and she is a massive support to Hope. Sadly, Lucie has a disability herself. She was born with a form of Congenital Myopathy which is a muscle condition. As a result of this condition, Lucie is fed using a gastrostomy feeding tube and must use a ventilation machine at night. She also has no formed hips or sockets, along with a whole host of other problems. Regardless of her disability, Lucie is incredibly brave and intelligent. The girls had another sister called Grace, who had the same disability as Lucie, but sadly Grace died just nine hours after she was born.
How You Can Help

Picture
As you can imagine, the girls needs are very demanding on mum and dad’s time, and although dad works full time, they are only just making ends meet. We have been supporting their family emotionally and practically since Hope was diagnosed but now they need our help financially too.
