On Sunday 4th February, Hills 'n' Toes held their first charity event in aid of Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund.
Over 70 people filled the Romford United Services and Social Club to dance the night away and raise vital funds.
Live entertainment was provided by ‘Natalie Thurlow’ and DJ Hillary Kurt-Webster, making sure the floor was full all night!
The crowd were amazing and there was plenty of audience participation – in particular a very special mention to Carol who played tambourine all night and sang her heart out!
There was also a charity raffle, an auction, a sweet stall and a shoe stall, all there to help raise more money.
Huge thank you to Hillary and Paul for organising this fantastic event and a special thank you to everybody who donated to Lennox!
We were delighted to be invited to The Burstead Golf Club, Billericay on 21st January to be officially presented with a cheque by the club’s 2017 men’s and ladies’ Captains, David Smith and Kim Homes. David and Kim both decided to support Lennox as their Captain’s Charity of the Year throughout their spells at the helm of their respective club sections, and we are thrilled to have had their support!
We attended the club’s Putt-Out and Drive-In - the official handover from one year’s Captains to their new counterparts. Rather unusually, this year the event had to be held partly indoors due the golf course being under a layer of snow!
Club members gathered in the clubhouse to witness David, Kim and their Junior and Senior section comrades taking their final putts as captains on an indoor putting green. Then, as the new 2018 captains braved the elements, club members lined up along the windows to see them making their first drive in their new role.
Each outgoing captain gave a short speech thanking everyone for their help throughout the year, and Lennox was presented with a cheque for a truly amazing £7000!
We would like to thank David, Kim and everyone at The Burstead Golf Club for their support throughout 2017 and for working so hard to raise so much money. In addition, we would like to wish the new captains the very best of luck in their new roles. Congratulations to you all, and thank you!
