Ingatestone Group Support Lennox With Upcoming Musical, ‘Calamity Jane’

Ingatestone Musical and Operetta Group, otherwise known as IMOG, are a musical theatre group who have been performing locally for over 45 years.

From 12th - 14th October, IMOG will be performing the classic show ‘Calamity Jane’, made famous by Doris Day in 1953, and raising money for Lennox!

IMOG has been performing shows since 1970, when Peggy Godfrey and Alan Braun conceived the idea of forming a local musical society. Adverts were placed around the village of Ingatestone, and the first meeting was held at Peggy’s home.

This inaugural meeting was attended by nine enthusiasts who became the founder members of the Ingatestone Opera Group (IOG), which was subsequently renamed Ingatestone Musical & Operetta Group (IMOG) to reflect the wider musical tastes enjoyed by its rapidly increasing membership. Rehearsals began for a production of HMS Pinafore and things really started taking off. Needless to say, their production of HMS Pinafore
was quite a hit

The success of the group over recent years is down to a dedicated and hard working committee who are supported by a talented and enthusiastic membership.

IMOG are will be raising fund for Lennox at their upcoming show 'Calamity Jane', which promises to be another hit show! Tickets are available now so don't miss out! Call 01277 354015 to buy yours today and support IMOG and Lennox!

Capital Space Fun Day

The rain may have poured but it failed to dampen spirits as supporters gathered at the Capital Business Centre in Croydon for the Capital Space BBQ Party on Wednesday 26th July. They organised a fantastic afternoon filled with music, food, giant games and a raffle.

Alongside all this fun was the opportunity for guests to guess how many balloons had been squashed into a Smart car! Some guessed wildly, others withstood the rain to peer through the windows and count each and every balloon. (It was 86!)

There was a huge array of raffle prizes donated by a number of local businesses including stationery from Spicers Officeteam, kids’ colouring packs from Maad Toys and a beautiful box of fresh produce from the South Croydon Allotment Society.

During the afternoon there was a visit from Colleen Cleary from the Croydon Chamber of Commerce to show their support for the event.

Thank you to Michael Hall, Maria Malone and Jason Hill for their hard work in bringing the afternoon to fruition despite the bad weather and raising a fantastic £495!

Burstead Golf Club's Captain's Day

26th July saw Captains’ Day at The Burstead Golf Club, and ably hosted by Captains Dave Smith and Kim Holmes it proved to be yet another massive success.

Golfers young and not-so-young gathered for a very competitive round, taking in the chance to 'Beat The Pro' on the way. Then, golfing over, back at the clubhouse a tasty barbecue was on offer on a scale even the largest of stomachs struggled to contend with. Whilst the food was washed down with the various offerings from the clubhouse bar a short speech was made by our very own Becky outlining the work of Lennox and the good that will be done with all the money raised.

Next up came the chance for the golfers to win some prizes in a bizarre indoor putting competition using a raised putting green and a spherical putter. Numbers picked at random selected the competitors from the room and with each missed putt the prize stash grew – gloves, tees, balls and hats piled up before, after a handful of attempts, the first successful winner claimed the lot.

Day turned into evening as the auction began with bidders generously digging deep to battle for a huge array of prizes ranging from whisky and chocolate to a gas barbecue and some truly fantastic autographed sporting memorabilia. The atmosphere was competitive as hands were raised and bidders outbid, all the while raising money for a great cause.

We would like to send our thanks to David, Kim and everyone at Burstead Golf Club for their continued support, and for arranging such a fantastic day!

On Saturday 15th July our friends at the Church House Coffee Shop in Market Square, Romford held a charity coffee morning. Sean and Diane very kindly donated all of the profits from the morning to Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund. They also sold a range of Lennox merchandise raising a superb total of £344.96!!

The morning was attended by our very own Vincent Fitzmaurice and Vicky Nash who donned their aprons and helped out by serving a steady stream of customers, clearing tables and washing up.

A huge thank you to all involved!
