The students very talented students of St Mary's Hare Park School in Gidea Park put on a spectacular production of the Gilbert and Sullivan comic opera, The Mikado.
After the show the audience, which was made up of very proud family and friends, donated into collection buckets and the funds raised were divided between us and one other charity. Vincent Fitzmaurice, the charity CEO, and his wife, Gemma Fitzmaurice visited the school (pictured) to collect the cheque for £350 during an assembly.
Thank you to the teachers, students and community of the school for all their hard work to raise these funds.
Families were treated to a day jam-packed with fun things to see and do at the family fun day held at Fairlop Waters in Hainault. The children enjoyed multiple bouncy castles, tombola, cakes and slush puppies while parents relaxed watching the dance show or browsing the home made craft stalls.
The day was organised by Michelle Horne and Susie Halliday to raise over £1000 to be split between Lennox Children's Cancer Fund and The Ryan Lee Trust.
Michelle and Susie decided to support Lennox after we helped Michelle's family during her daughter's battle with cancer last year. Mia was diagnosed with a brain tumour in June 2011 and following 18 months of chemotherapy, two blood transfusions and nine hours of surgery to save her eyesight, 30% of the tumour was successfully removed. After this Mia was left completely blind so we provided funding to have their family garden turned into a sensory garden for Mia and her younger sister Ruby to play in.
Thank you to Michelle, Susie, all the fun day volunteers, the stall holders, performers and everyone who came along to support the event!

This year, Danny (left) and Paul (right) took on the Liverpool Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon and Joe requested that the money they raise is donated to Lennox. With the help of friends, family, neighbours and work colleagues at the distribution warehouse for B&M, the pair raised a grand total of £1,320!
Joe's mum, Angela, said "Joe wasn't able to do the run himself but he wanted to do something to help others who are going through treatment.
Thank you to Danny, Paul, Joe, Angela, Jackie and everyone who helped to support them.
