We are delighted to have been chosen to receive a generous grant of £2,000 from The Boshier-Hinton Foundation towards the running costs of our Respite Breaks project. Respite Breaks are short holidays given to families in desperate need of some relaxing time away from the day-to-day stress of cancer treatment. We're fundraising to give seven year old, Oliver, and his two brothers, a beautiful garden to play in this summer, plus a trampoline and enclosure. Oliver is undergoing aggressive chemotherapy for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and wont finish his treatment until 2015, so a little respite fun at home is very important to the whole family. Bikini clad employees at Harley Davidson raised £250 during a charity bike wash held at their showroom on 29th June 2013. Special thanks to the bike washers who braved the cold for a good cause.
Daredevil, Patrick Armstrong, from Suffolk, took a huge leap from a plane at over 12,000 feet in the air to raise £516.50! The skydive consisted of a 30 second freefall before the parachute was pulled by his instructor and Patrick glided to the ground of the Beccles Airfield, in Suffolk. Year 7 students at Chadwell Academy raised as incredible £100! The students involved sold cakes to teachers and other sweet-toothed students at the school in Chadwell Heath Essex to raise the funds!
Gemma Fitzmaurice organised a Teddy Bears' Picnic at the Harrow Lodge Park, in Hornchurch, complete with a sponsored one mile walk and picnic at the end. The majority of participants were students and friends of St. Mary's Hare Park School, who raised sponsors and completed the walk to raise £1,231, which was then split between us and the school.
Val and friends dressed up as cowboys for Festival Silver Horseshoe Country Music and raised funds for Lennox by holding a 50:50 Raffle at the event. The group raise funds regularly in this way.
Friends Dan Lockhart and Callum Watts raised £623 for Lennox by taking part in a daring sponsored tandem skydive each at the Sibson Airfield in Peterborough.
