Sunday 8th July was a bright and early start for the Lennox team preparing Raphael Park for the second Superhero Fun Run and Inflatables Day – and what a day it was! The park was fit for a fun day as a variety of inflatables reached for the sky, the route markers were laid out and DJ Steve Henderson pumped out the feelgood party tunes (and a few superhero anthems!)

Despite temperatures reaching in excess of 30 degrees in the midday sun, over 150 brave people arrived in their droves (and fantastic superhero outfits) to take part in the three-lap 5km Fun Run. It was a beautiful sight to see whole families getting involved in the dressing-up with adults and children alike donning Spiderman, Batman and Wonder Woman outfits, amongst many other superhero favourites.

After a brief superhero-themed warm up with local fitness instructor Carly Faiers, the runners were held in anticipation under the start/finish arch until the run was started by Lennox patron and star of TV’s Disney Channel, Lloyd Warbey.

After a brief superhero-themed warm up with local fitness instructor Carly Faiers, the runners were held in anticipation under the start/finish arch until the run was started by Lennox patron and star of TV’s Disney Channel, Lloyd Warbey.

As the starting horn sounded, runners of all ages and abilities filed under the arch and made their way onto the route. The atmosphere was buzzing and after just 27 minutes the first finisher made his way across the line to receive his medal, goody bag and a well-earned round of applause from the waiting crowd.

As more of the runners made their way across the finish line to rapturous applause from the cheering crowd, the inflatable fun kicked off with bouncy castles, a nerf range, penalty shootout and basketball game alongside soft play for the littlest ones.

Thank you to everyone who came along and took part, and to everyone who supported our superheroes by sponsoring them and coming along to cheer them on.

Thank you also to everyone who donated or volunteered their time free of charge, including: Steve Henderson for DJing, Carly Faiers for warming up the runners, Millennium Man and City Limits for donating lots of bottled water, Adsa in Romford for donating bananas, Trophyland in Hornchurch for donating the medals, Havering Council, Havering schools and the Park Runs team, Sam Kellythorn and the Balfour Beatty team at Saddlers Farm for lending us cones, Lloyd Warbey for helping to warm up the crowd before the run and all the wonderful volunteers: Liz Brown (from Asda Romford), Gemma Bull, Linda Dimond, Rachel Barton, Martin Nash, Emily Nash, Tom Nash, Mark Brown, Mia Brown, Darcie Brown, Liz Gibson, Allen Clark, Gill Horne, Joanne McCaffery, Kevin Fitzmaurice, James Foale, Mavis Sherlock, Gerry Sherlock, Claire Nichols, Lyn Gibson, Helen Nye, Lorna Dennis, Zoe Davis, Natalie Thurlow and Natalie Griffiths
