... to refurbish the family room on Tropical Bay Children's Ward at Queen's Hospital
Tropical Bay is one of two children's wards at Queen's Hospital in Romford. Parents will usually spend many hours waiting around while their child is given treatment, or undergoing surgery, and this time can be very traumatic and emotional.
The ward has a family room for parents and siblings to use, but it is currently shabby, dull and very clinical. Not the sort of place you would choose to go and relax! Unfortunately, the family room is the only place for parents and siblings to go without leaving the ward while their child is having cancer treatment.
As you can see, it's not a very welcoming environment!
We need your help to raise £15,000 to fully refurbish the room and make it a bright, comfortable and friendly place for parents and siblings to relax and meet other families over a cuppa!
The refurbishment of the family room will:
Offer families a comfortable and welcoming place to wait while their child is being treated, or undergoing surgery.
Give parents and siblings somewhere to meet other families who also have a child battling cancer.
Provide a calm environment for parents to reflect and release their emotions away from their child and the rest of the ward.
