Superhero Fun Run
The 2019 Superhero Fun Run took place on Sunday 19th May. To find out more about it, click here.
Sunday 19th May 2019 will see the return of our family-friendly charity Superhero Fun Run and Inflatables Day! Back for its THIRD fantastic year, Raphael Park in Romford will once again play host to the 5k superhero-themed family fundraiser.
Run, walk, skip, fly… complete the distance however you like, and as it’s not a race, you don’t have to be an athlete to join in! The Superhero Fun Run is suitable for all ages and abilities. Take part as a family - bring the kids, grandparents, aunts and uncles and have a fun family day out. Dress up in your favourite superhero fancy dress and join us to raise money to support children with cancer.
An afternoon of *FREE* inflatable fun is included in the Superhero Fun Run registration for all under 13s and there will be soft play available for under 5s. All Superhero Fun Run finishers will also receive an exciting goody bag and finishers medal at the end of the race! For those not taking part in the Superhero Fun Run, unlimited use wristbands will be available on the day for £5 each.
Fancy dress is encouraged, and superhero capes and masks will be on sale for runners who really want to look the part!
The NEW-improved 2019 inflatables day will also include a wider selection of inflatables, face-painting and food and drink stalls! There will be a DJ and a fun pre-run warm-up to get the fun run going at midday.
Sign up today, come as your favourite character and be a superhero for children with cancer!
Inflatables will be free for all under 13s participating in the Superhero Fun Run and additional wristbands will be available for £5 from the registration tent.
The run will start at 12pm.
Did you know?
Recent research revealed that three in five parents surveyed ended up in debt as a result of a child's cancer diagnosis – with one in six borrowing more than £5,000. The average extra spend of £600 per month is close to a third of the average UK monthly income*. This puts a massive financial strain on families, who also have to take time off work to care for their sick child during treatment, which can often last several years.
Our family support team are constantly inundated with requests for financial support from families who find themselves in this all too common situation, so the funds you raise will be put towards our Care Grants project to help these families.
Why become a Superhero Fun Runner?
Registration for the 2019 event is now closed.
*Children must be accompanied by a participating adult throughout the run.
Can I turn up on the day and take part?
We only have a limited number of places, which will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If there are still places available on the day, you will be able to register at the registration tent. However, to secure your place, you should register in advance.
Can I come along without taking part in the fun run?
Yes. There will be lots of inflatables for children. It is only £5 for an unlimited use wristband. This is free for those taking part in the Superhero Fun Run.
How far is the fun run?
The route is 5 kilometres, but you don't have to run the whole thing. You can walk, skip, or fly if you have a cape!
Is the route suitable for wheelchair users and pushchairs?
Yes. The whole route is paved but may be muddy or wet on the day. If you would like further information about accessibility, please call us on 01708 734366.
Do I have to wear fancy dress?
Fancy dress is strongly encouraged, but not compulsory. You can wear whatever you like. Fancy dress, sports wear or just something comfy. You should definitely wear comfortable footwear though, ideally trainers.
Can I take my baby in a pram or pushchair?
Yes. The entire the route is paved so you should have no trouble pushing a pram or pushchair around. Please be aware that it may be muddy or wet depending on the weather leading up to the event.
Can I bring my pet?
Animals will not be permitted on the race route. We are happy for spectators to bring pets along, but ask that they are kept on a lead around the event area.
How much should I raise in sponsorship?
There is no set minimum sponsorship amount, but we suggest a fundraising target of £25 for children and £50 for adults.
Can I take part in memory of a loved one?
Can I bring my friends and family?
You are welcome to bring friends and family along to cheer you on, and enjoy other activities available on the day.
Is there car parking?
There are a limited number of car parking spaces in the park just across Main Road. It is just a few minutes walk from the car park to the registration tent. There is also some parking available in the side roads around the park
What happens if it rains?
The run will go ahead come rain or shine. After all, we are used to the British weather and we wont let it stop us having a great time! If the weather conditions become hazardous, we will contact you with more information.
