Next Event: Saturday 13th - Sunday 14th September 2014

Picture
The Thames Path follows England's best known river for 184 miles (294km) as it meanders from its source in the Cotswolds on through the bustle of the City of London, to the Thames Barrier. This challenge heads West, starting out from the urban jungle of London at Fulham Palace through some of the most historic and picturesque towns in southern England. It passes the Royal palace of Hampton Court, beneath Windsor Castle and on though beautiful countryside to Henley for those on the full 100km walk.

By signing up to the Thames Path Challenge for Lennox, not only will you take on a heroic feat of endurance, but the funds you raise will make a huge difference to our work for children with cancer. We will provide fantastic support to ensure you have everything you need to reach your target, including regular update calls or emails, personalised sponsor forms and other fundraising materials with plenty of advice!

The Thames Path Challenge is also now a qualifying event for the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc where you will get 2 qualifying points for the 100km! To find out more information, please click here.

Which route is for you?

Picture
You can take on the Thames Path Challenge as either a 100km distance or take on either of the two 50km routes – so you can choose which route best suits your challenge and your goal! New this year is also the 25km route which you can take on to experience the first quarter of the 100km route. Choose your distance...

100km - The Full Route
Starts near to Putney Bridge, and then through leafy Kew and Richmond, passing the Royal palace of Hampton Court, and onwards to Henley on Thames. The route is mainly on the path, crossing locks and rivers heading west towards the finish line at Remenham Farm (home to the famous Henley Regatta) – where a celebration awaits on the banks of the River Thames throughout the Sunday!

50km - First Half (Putney to Runnymede)
Setting out from Putney Bridge the 50km route takes in the best of west London – passing the Royal Botanical Kew Gardens, Hampton Court Palace in Richmond, following the towpath past through to Staines before reaching the
50km finish line at Runnymede pleasure grounds where a big celebration awaits!

50km - Second Half (Runnymede to Henley)
The second half of the Thames Path Challenge route sets out from Runnymede Pleasure Grounds, as a runner you will set off Saturday late morning – or if jogging or walking the route you can set off for a daytime challenge – or a night-time adventure to arrive at the finish point as the sun rises.

25km - First Quarter (Putney to Hampton Court)
Setting out from the start line in Putney, the route has been opened up for the first time for more walkers to enjoy the first quarter of our challenge – you will take in the festival atmosphere at the start of the challenge warming up together with a fitness workout and brunch – before setting out along the greatest river in England.

Set out from midday, picnic en route - with a BBQ celebratory finish!

Walk it or run it?

It sounds relatively straight forward, but to walk either 25km, 50km or the full 100km is a test of mental and physical strength. However, with good preparation, and a training plan which builds distance over time, any long distance is an achievable goal, no matter what your fitness and experience level is at the outset. For the first time in 2013 the event has been opened up to runners – from first timers (who might want to try some walking and jogging along the way) to those with a personal best to achieve. The course record is there to be set – and there will be categories for prizes.

Take Part As A Walker...
Walkers are classed as those aiming to complete the 100km route in over 15 hours or the 50km route in over 7 hours. You can walk and jog parts of the route or take a more leisurely approach. Walkers will start in groups between 7am
and 1pm on the Saturday. Training walks will be available leading up to the challenge. More than 2,000 walkers will take on the 2013 challenge!

Take Part As A Runner...
Runners are classed as those aiming to complete the 100km route in under 15 hours and the 50km challenge in under seven hours. There will be tailored runners menus at feed stations and extra energy powders and supplies
for all runners. We recommend that you have previously completed at least one standard marathon run. Last runners should cross the finish line approximately between 10pm and 11pm on Saturday. If you are looking to step up from a marathon run, stretch your legs further and try a longer distance, the Thames Path Challenge is perfect.

Enter A Team...
The Thames Path Challenge is the perfect way to take a team of friends, family, or colleagues - particularly as a walking challenge but it’s fine for runners also - supporting each other en-route and training together before the big day. Please note that when in a team, the sponsorship targets remain the same per person.
Teams of 5-7 will receive a neck buff each. Teams of 8 or more all will get a free neck buff and a free technical training top! Team captain's will receive a team recruitment pack with marketing posters, flyers and a log to help recruit your team.
