The Lennox's fourth annual musical production of The King & I has received fantastic feedback and that everyone who attended had a wonderful night and enjoyed the show as much as we did. Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket and by doing so supported the good work of the Lennox Children's Cancer Fund. We'd also like to say an extra special thank you to everyone who took part both on stage and behind the scenes, including: principles, chorus memebers, children, dancers, parents, chaperones, crew, wardrobe, make up, theatre staff, sound and light engineers and all of the productions team. Synopsis After the death of her husband, Anna Owens moves from England to Siam with her son Louis to become a teacher for the children of the king of Siam. She finds Siamese customs to be quite different from English ones, which brings her often in conflict with the king. She threatens to leave when the house she had been promised is not available, but falls in love with the children. A new slave, a gift of a vassal king, translates "Uncle Tom's Cabin" into a Siamese ballet, expressing her unhappiness at being with the King. She attempts to escape with her lover. After some time Anna and the King find themselves getting along much better and fall in love, but her British upbringing inhibits her from joining his harem. She is just about to leave Siam when she hears of the King's imminent death, and returns to help his son, her favorite pupil, rule his people. Click here for a full cast and crew list. |
